Considering the geographic size of the state of Texas and the fact that Texas leads the United States with the most number of convenience stores (14,000+), Texas leads the country in the number of pumps subject to regulation.  Consider also that many pumps are re-manufactured devices that feature an older façade with an older sticker from TDA.  The device may in fact be properly registered, but may not have a new sticker.  The Texas Department of Agriculture has accelerated inspections and significantly increased penalties for non-compliance.  Both of these actions have led to more compliance and a fairer marketplace for both consumers and retailers.

 

As we also discussed, retailers already inspect their pumps for proper calibration to ensure consistent measurement and sales.
