Border security funding was increased from $111 million last biennium to $152 million this biennium. This session, border funding went directly to DPS whereas last session it came to the governor’s office and was then sent to DPS (this session basically just cut OOG out as the middle man, if you will). The governor’s office did directly receive money for border prosecution (Hinojosa’s office has some good information about the importance of those funds if you are looking for more detail on that).
