An Austin Energy report to the commission last week recommended that the city-owned utility sell Austin's share of the coal-fired Fayette power plant, which provides about one-third of the city's power, and use the proceeds to invest in natural gas instead. But one Utility Commission member says the proposal could actually result in significantly more carbon being emitted into the atmosphere.
