Tommie is unable to let her husband of more than 45 years out of her sight. Charles, 80, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2002, accompanies his wife to work each day, in addition to being with her round-the-clock at home. Tommie's only time alone is the four hours Charles spends at the Nacogdoches Treatment Center Monday through Friday or when her son is able to make the five-hour drive from Pfluggerville.
